Moderation Policy

Posters agree to:

  • Post only information you are comfortable sharing and avoid sharing contact information, or information about any other person, group or organization.

  • Posts should be constructive and, when possible, include specifics on how something you wish to see happen can actually happen. Make sure comments represent your own views in order to avoid unnecessarily harming the reputation of anyone or any organization.

  • Comments that are critical should focus on behavior and language, not physical characteristics of anyone’s race, culture, appearance, gender, sexual preference, religion or age.

  • Use respectful language, and avoid obscene or foul language, or content that promotes self-harm, suicide, violence or criminal activity.

  • Posts should include links to outside sources only when necessary, and avoid posting links to content that violates any of these guidelines.

  • Images used in the post must adhere to international copyright laws. Visit Unsplash or do a Google image search and select 'Labeled for Reuse' under the 'Tools' tab.

  • This site is intended for good faith discussions about the future of Myanmar, and does not allow for any content such as spam, advertising, promotions or direct solicitations.

  • Post your submission only once. Duplicate submissions will be flagged, and may be reviewed internally on a case-by-case basis. Any post that is identical, or near identical, to another published post may be allowed or rejected at the moderators’ discretion.

Pyithusanda moderation team responsibilities:

  • Moderation is done manually, without the use of automatic systems such as AI. Posts are reviewed independently by more than one dedicated moderator and a decision made based on consensus. Where there is no consensus among individual moderators, we will review the post internally on a case-by-case basis, and determine whether or not the post may stay online.

  • Moderators will not edit or modify content in any way. For this reason, posts with content that violates any of these moderation policies will be rejected.

  • All moderation decisions are made within roughly 48 hours after submission of the post.

  • Because we do not keep any identifying information, we cannot notify posters if a post is approved or rejected. It is the poster’s responsibility to track whether or not their post was approved.

  • These policies were last updated on October 31, 2024. Moderators reserve the right to update these policies at any time, and will notify site users on the home page.

Responding to moderation decisions

  • Pyithusanda does not have the resources to provide an appeal process. Posters may resubmit a rejected post incorporating changes that make the post pass our moderation policy.
